‘High’ review Kathleen Turner

Kathleen Turner ‘High’

Broadway Theater Review

New York City International

‘High’ on Broadway before 4:20

At the Booth Theater, Manhattan

“HIGH”

Written by:

MATTHEW LOMBARDO

New York City International Theater Report

‘High’ premiered Tuesday, April 19 at the intimate Booth Theater.  The off Broadway show was a buzz.  Kathleen Turner creates a rehabilitation center for theater patrons ailing from colorless stage complexity.   All three actors deserved the standing ovation they received for the believable conveyance of realistic characters with non fictional pasts.  ‘High’ written by, Matthew Lombardo, is complex as an open ended straw thatch storyboard woven with stereotypes, truth and real life intricacy.  Overall ‘High’ is a thought provoking trip into ones self where each path laid bare is still a dirty road that brings you up or get you ‘High’.

The intellectual challenge developing each scene as the story unfolds for the audience, was well accomplished by director: Rob Ruggiero.

The World Premiere of High was produced by Theater Works, Steve Campo, Executive Director; Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Edward Stern, Producing Artistic Director, Buzz Ward, Executive Director; and the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Steven Woolf, Artistic Director, Mark D. Bernstein, Managing Director.

Special Thanks to Theatre Development Fund for their support.

New York gets “High”

Today Broadway Gets “High”

New York City International Broadway Shows:

Presents:

“High” by Matthew Lombardo is a recovery addiction drama written from first hand knowledge.  The author was a meth addict, now clean for eight years and writes of the struggle and redeeming qualities of Sister Jamison Connelly, a tough-talking nun.  Kathleen Turner returns to Broadway for the first time since her Tony Nomination for her role as Martha, of Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolf?”

The drug addict, played by Evan Jonigkeit, paired with the strong inspirational character of Turner, should prove gripping and entertaining for Broadway lovers searching for deep real life drama relived on stage.

New York gets “High,” on Broadway

“High,”

Written by Matthew Lombardo and directed by Rob Ruggiero

Starring: Kathleen Turner

By the time New Yorkers get “High,” on Broadway the play will have gone through evolutions pushed by six months of audience reviews and director revisions.  The final product should be a direct hit among smoking critics missing character depth in their theatric consumption.

Kathleen Turner’s Tony nomination for her 2005 Broadway appearance in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf,” promises “High,” expectations.  In her interview with The New York Times Kathleen Turner was quoted as suggesting Kathleen’s character,

“makes me think of how much we operate every single day on faith and belief,”  even outside of connections to organized religion.

Kathleen has true faith in a clear connection with her character (Sister Jamison Connelly).

Connelly is described by Turner as “a foul-mouthed alcoholic nun.”

Kathleen’s life experience tailoring authentic delivery will make the Manhattan Premiere a must see.  Stephen Kunken and Evan Jonigkeit will also be “High,” acting talents  joining Ms. Turner on stage in early spring.

“High,” previews in Manhattan begin March 25th with an opening scheduled for April 19th at the Booth Theater.

New York City International Performing Arts Reporters will be covering the premiere.

If you would like an interview, are a public figure, government official or VIP and need special seating assistance please contactNewYorkCityInternational.com.

Enjoy the show!

Billionaire Sir Ivan

Chance Spiessbach of Chance TV was able to hear all about what goes on inside the head of one of the most unique, wealthy, sexy, and exciting people in, I dare say the world.  Of course he showed up with Peruvian Superstar Mayi (pronounced Maji) Novoa.

Ivan L. Wilzig a/k/a Sir Ivan or Peaceman is a musician who is best known for techno remixes of 1960s songs such as “Imagine” and “San Francisco“. He is also founder of the nonprofit Peaceman Foundation and appeared as Mr. Mitzvah on Season Two of the reality television show Who Wants to be a Superhero?.

Wilzig’s eccentric and hedonistic lifestyle is the setting for his lavishly decorated 15,000-square-foot  medieval-style estate in Water Mill on Long Island, New York. It is known as”the Castle”, it is considered by many as the “Playboy Mansion of the East Coast”. Although built in the late 1990s the Castle has been featured in various television shows, including the Travel Channel‘s “Grand Castles of America”.

Ivan’s medieval castle has all the trimmings; a multi-tiered moat with seven waterfalls, secret passages, gargoyles and dragons, a gold leaf gate, chain and wood drawbridge.

Wilzig has been a regular on lifestyle and reality shows on American and international television since the year 2000. The dating shows Single in the Hamptons and Manhattan on the Beach were syndicated around the world. Ivan appeared for the first time on German network television ProSieben introducing his Billboard hit “Imagine” right after September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. That segment also featured Wilzig’s Japanese girlfriend Mina Otsuka, who escaped the attacks from her office on the 79th floor of Two World Trade Center.

In early 2004 the ProSieben network broadcast the five-part reality-short-series So lebt ein Milliardaer! (“Lifestyle of a Billionaire!”) featuring Ivan dressed as Peaceman next to supermodel Naomi Campbell, DJ Paul Oakenfold and tennis world champion Venus Williams. In 2006 ProSieben featured him in the five-part mini-docu-soap Die Maedchen und der Milliardaer (“The Girls and the Billionaire”). VH1 featured Wilzig in 2003 (Hopelessly Rich) and in 2007 (The Fabulous Life of the Hamptons).

Wilzig filmed a television pilot for his Peaceman character. Wilzig says the pilot is a combination of reality, scripted material and animation. It is not known whether or not this pilot has ever been aired.

There is only one Sir Ivan.   Check him out.

Secrets Exposed— Project Runway Season 6

Chance Spiessbach of Chance TV found out some of the behind the scenes secrets of Project Runway Season 6.  This season featured some incredible guest judges such as Christina Aguilera, Eva Longoria Parker and Lindsay Lohan.  The three finalists of the sixth season showed their collections at New York Fashion Week at Bryant Park on February 20, 2009, but the finalists were not named and did not appear onstage that day. Irina Shabayeva won the competition with her model Kalyn Hemphill. Althea Harper and her model Tanisha Harper placed second in the competition, followed by Carol Hannah Whitfield and her model Lisa Blades.

The sixth season was the first season of Heidi Klume and  Tim Gunn’s Project Runway to be filmed in Los Angeles, at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, rather than New York. The pre-finale filming concluded on Friday, October 17, 2008.

The sixth season had been announced to begin airing in January 2009 on Lifetime, but was delayed due to legal issues. The announcement occurred before NBC Universal sought preliminary injunctive action effectively enjoining production. The launch was further delayed due to Lifetime’s request that the suit between NBC Universal and The Weinstein Co. be removed to federal court.

Irina Shabayeva won a $100,000 to start her own line, an editorial feature in Marie Claire magazine and an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Paris.   Kalyn Hemphill took home the prize of Model of the Runway winner.   Check out what the girls had to say.
